What is the Chiang Rai Hash?

The Chiang Rai Hash is a non-competitive, social, drinking and running/walking group that gets together once a month in a different location. That location is decided upon by the "hare," the person that sets the trail.

The hash consists of 2 parts - the run and the circle.

The "run" will be on a trail, usually 6 to 7 km long, in the Chiang Rai countryside with dirt trails, beautiful scenery, (hopefully) lots of shade and sometimes through a bit of mud. The "run" can be walked or ran with numerous checks along the way to slow down the FRBs (front running bastards). Ideally, the FRBs and the other hashers will finish within 20 minutes of each other.

The second part of the hash is the "circle" which is lead by the GM and involves telling jokes, drinking beer and singing hash songs - effectively a party in the woods.  If you aren't entertained, the GM isn't doing a very good job.

The hash is a very light-hearted affair and appeals to those who like to get outside, those who like to drink and for the lucky few, those who like both. If you enjoy the hash enough to come back 3 times, you will be awarded a hash name that you can wear like a badge of honor.

All are welcome.
