July 20th Driving Directions
Driving directions for the July 20th hash will be posted about a week prior to the hash but mark the 20th on your calendar!
June 15th Hash Report
Another hot day, another nice hash through the rolling hills south of the city. Approx. 15 people turned up. Lots of clever checks but since the hash was the reverse of what was set last year, they weren't especially hard to figure out. Cold beers at the end of the run were well appreciated. At the circle Wirgin Bluce got a downer for leaving Shocking off the mailing list and Wirgin Bluce responded that "someone has to weed out the riffraff." Hopefully next month's hash will be a bit cooler (or maybe start a bit later . . .)

Hash Run Saturday June 15 at 4 pm
The Hash this week will be held in a similar area to one we did back last August, so some parts of it will be familiar, but only about 40% as the wet season is not full on and we can use what was our original track. For those who didn't do it a reminder that it's a lovely area, and if there has been rain, it will be slippery underfoot in places so be sure to wear appropriate shoes.
To get there:
From Big C travel south on the super highway to the next set of lights and turn left onto the 1020. Proceed for 5.8 km's and then turn right. There will be an HHH sign. Just before the turning there is a new house on the left with a stainless steel fence, and the Soi is on your right the sign is in Thai, just past the Soi you will see a yellow fence with excavators behind it. Proceed along this concrete road for 0.9 km's, at the T junction turn right (HHH sign) and follow this road for 4.8 km's, there is parking off road on the right hand side. For those who did the August Hash, its past the place we parked last time.

First Full Moon Hash Report May 31, 2013
Hare: Nam Ron
Locale: Rai Boon Rawd orchard
Nine intrepid hashers gathered at Rico’s bar around 6:45 pm in anticipation of a night time A to D run in a location yet to be disclosed. Not to be caught unprepared most fortified themselves with beer which the ever cautious Puck Off and her pal Virgin Wendi supplemented with food. Forty five minutes past the appointed hour, these courageous few assembled themselves in two vehicles headed past Rai Mae Fah Luang Gardens. Eventually the vehicles stopped and Nam Ron opened the ice box for further fortification.
Oral Banger and Loose Stool set a fast pace at the beginning which soon petered out as surplus liquid weighed on their soul. Your faithful correspondent followed stodgily behind but soon found himself in good company from the first check onwards. The pace deteriorated in direction proportion to alcohol imbibed with the effects reinforced at points B and C. Virgins Brian and Bill who did not indulge set the pace but the checks kept them so busy that they were never more than a few minutes ahead of the walkers whose numbers increased as the “run” progressed.
If there was a full moon out there, no one would know it. The sky was mostly overcast. However finding the way was not difficult. Most people brought flashlights which the hare supplemented for the improvident and the light thus shone was magnified by the luminosity of the dirt tracks.
The run from A to B was about 3 km. Points B to C stretched another 2 km mostly uphill leading to a vantage point overlooking the city lights. Then C to D was a little over a kilometer making the total run of a little more than 6 km. No one complained about it being too short.
At the circle thereafter there were some feeble attempts to improvise songs to claim the reward offered by the hare. The usually ribaldry and jokes were more successful. The hare announced that he had learned in Chiangmai that according to hash traditions, the particularity of hash nomenclature should never be compromised by the inclusion of a person’s routine name. Hence “Alexander the Average” would have to change. It was then revealed that this individual has been uniquely successful avoiding the endearing embraces of a local partner so the new name was then unanimously acclaimed “Unthai-ed.”

HHH Run Report #115 May 18, 2013
Location: Mae Korn crossroads area
Hare: Shocking
The May, 2013 Chiang Rai Family Friendly hash turned out to be a rather warm affair. An unexpectedly good turn out of approx. 15 including a large contingent of English teachers from the local schools as well as the old regulars. The stand-in GM and hare, Shocking, decided that ever since Able Semen had taken over the hash, things had been getting a bit too cool and he was determined to heat things up. So, even though it was 40 degrees in the shade, Shocking kept the hashers on roads the whole time (except for the 2 km of dried rice fields set aside for the deluded few who opted to do the long trail.) It wasn’t just any road he had us on, it was a 4 lane highway, that although technically still not open had not one tree for shade. Needless to say, even before the first water stop, all but the most determined FRBs had lost their verve and were walking slowly, craving to get to the end. Undeterred FRBs Virgin Brian and Namron thought they had it in the bag until suddenly one of the female teachers and Oral Banger made a push at the end. It became a sprint to the finish with Brian managing to pull victory from OB’s jaws.
The circle was unique in the it was run by Shocking who FORGOT to try to pawn hash shirts! We also said a temporary goodbye to Long and Hard who was soon to be off on his walk in the Spanish countryside (without food or oney.) However anticipating the fast to come, he joined the rest of us in filling himself up on the excellent food served by Pat on the Back who is otherwise known as Shocking’s better half. In the end, the wonderful hospitality overcame any brouhaha about the trail. We all left contently - full of food and beer.
On! On!
